Somewhere in Japan, down a side street, there's a pub that's been open since your grandparents were young. This is that pub.
The Mellow Pub is a fully built-out miniature izakaya — an elderly shopkeeper behind the bar, a maneki-neko on the counter, a Shiba Inu sitting out front, and floor-to-ceiling shelves lined with sake and shochu bottles. Indigo noren curtains hang at the entrance, red sakura lanterns with fabric-textured panels flank the door, a bonsai pine on a tiered wooden stand sits beside two bar stools, and six individual wooden drink tags hang from the eave — Beer, Sour, Sake, Shochu, Plum Wine, Wine in Japanese.
The sliding front window actually opens and closes — push it aside and the warm glow of the interior spills out. The bamboo-leaf UV-printed roof tiles are detailed enough to stop you mid-build. Touch the switch hidden in the tiles and the whole scene lights up.
